Website Chat

Put live chat and an AI agent on your website with Lynkist. Website chats land in the same inbox as WhatsApp, and replies reach visitors by email after they leave.

Website Chat adds a chat button to your website. Visitors write to you without leaving the page, your AI agent answers first, and your team takes over in the same inbox you use for WhatsApp. It is in every WhatsApp plan, and the Web Chat plan sells it on its own, with no WhatsApp number.

Set it up in four steps

  1. Create a widget. Go to Channels → Website Chat and click New widget. Give it a name and the address of your website.
  2. Make it yours. In the editor, set the colour, the button, the welcome message and the quick replies (Look and Messages), and your business hours (Hours). The preview changes as you type.
  3. Publish. Click Publish. Visitors see only published versions, and you can roll back to an older one at any time.
  4. Install. Open the Install tab, copy the one-line snippet and paste it into your site. Pick your platform below for the exact steps.

The chat shows only on the websites in Security → Allowed websites. If you see nothing on your site, add its domain there first (for example shop.example.com, or *.example.com for every subdomain).

How chats work

  • One inbox. Website chats appear in Chat with a Website badge. Use the channel filter to see only them.
  • The AI agent. Turn it on in the widget's AI tab. It answers from your knowledge base and, if you use Train from website on the AI Agent page, from up to 100 pages of your site. When it is not sure, or the visitor asks for a person, it hands the chat to your team.
  • Replies by email. A visitor can confirm their email in the chat. If they leave and do not see your reply within 5 minutes, it goes to that address, with a link back to the chat.
  • Contacts. Every visitor who writes becomes a contact. Answers to the pre-chat form (Form tab) fill in the contact.

AI replies

Each answer the AI agent sends counts as one AI reply, shared by WhatsApp and website chat. The Billing page shows how many are left this month, including any AI pack. When they run out, new chats go to your team.
