Business Verification
Verify your business with Meta in Meta Business Suite — what it unlocks for WhatsApp, what to prepare, each step in Security Centre, and what to do if Meta rejects it.
Meta asks every business on the WhatsApp Business Platform to prove two things: that the business is a registered legal entity, and that you are allowed to represent it. You do this once, for your business portfolio (the Meta Business Suite account that owns your WhatsApp account), in Security Centre. It happens on Meta's side, not inside Lynkist.
You can connect a number and start sending before you are verified. Verification is what lets your account grow past its starting limits.
Business verification is not the blue or grey tick next to a business name. That is a separate Meta programme (Meta Verified, or an Official Business Account). Verification does not give you a badge.
What verification changes for WhatsApp
| Not verified | Verified | |
|---|---|---|
| Messaging limit — unique customers you can start a conversation with in a moving 24 hours | Starts at 250 | Verification is one of Meta's paths to 2,000. From there, Meta raises the limit automatically while your message quality stays high. |
| Message templates per WhatsApp account | Up to 250 | Up to 6,000, once at least one number also has an approved display name |
Replies inside the 24-hour customer service window do not count towards the messaging limit. Lynkist shows your current limit on the dashboard.
Before you start
Have these ready. Most rejections come from details that do not match each other.
- Full control of the business portfolio. Only a person with full control can open Security Centre and start verification. If you cannot open it, ask the portfolio owner.
- The legal name of the business, exactly as it is on your registration documents.
- The official address and phone number of the business.
- A website that loads and uses HTTPS (the address starts with
https://). A site that does not load, has no secure connection or links to an error page is a common reason for rejection. - Access to a contact point that Meta can send a code to: a business email address on your website's domain, the business phone number, or the ability to edit your website's DNS or home page (for domain verification).
- Official documents in case Meta cannot find your business in its records (see below).
Documents Meta accepts
The documents must show the legal name of the business and its official address or phone number. They must be current (not expired) and issued by the relevant authority.
- Certificate or articles of incorporation
- Business registration or licence document
- Government-issued business tax document, such as a tax certificate (self-filed tax returns are not accepted)
- Business bank statement
- Utility bill — accepted only for the address or phone number, and it must show the legal business name. A utility bill does not prove the legal name.
In India, the documents that usually fit these types are the Certificate of Incorporation (companies and LLPs), the GST registration certificate, the Udyam registration certificate and a Shop and Establishment licence. Use the one whose name and address match the details you type into Meta exactly.
Documents must be in a language that Meta supports — English and Hindi are both supported. For another language, upload an English translation with the official stamp of a translation agency. Cover personal numbers that Meta does not need, such as an individual's PAN or Aadhaar number.
Verify your business, step by step
Meta's steps are for Meta Business Suite in a desktop browser.
Step 1 — Open Security Centre
Go to business.facebook.com/settings/security, or open Meta Business Suite → Settings → Security Centre. If your account manages more than one business portfolio, choose the one that owns your WhatsApp account first.
If you cannot open Security Centre, you do not have full control of this portfolio.
Step 2 — Click Start verification
Under Business verification, click Start verification.
If Security Centre shows Ineligible for verification, you do not need to verify there. Meta then sends a notification or an email when a product needs verification — follow the instructions in that message.
Step 3 — Enter your business details
Type the legal business name, address, phone number and website. Each value must be identical to your registration documents: the same spelling, the same suffix (Pvt Ltd, LLP) and the same address format.
Step 4 — Confirm your business
Meta searches public records and shows the businesses that match. Select yours.
If Meta does not find it, select My business isn't listed or None of these match. Meta then asks you to upload one of the official documents above.
Step 5 — Confirm that you can represent the business
Choose how Meta sends you a code: email, phone call, text message, WhatsApp message or domain verification.
- Email — use an address on your business's own domain (for example
owner@yourbusiness.in). If you choose email, Meta may also ask you to prove that you own the website's domain. - Phone, text or WhatsApp — Meta sends the code to the business phone number.
- Domain verification — add a meta tag to your home page or a TXT record to your DNS. Meta's domain verification steps show both ways.
Step 6 — Submit and wait
Enter the code (or finish domain verification), then click Done. Meta confirms that it has received your submission.
A decision can take up to 14 working days. Meta sends you a notification when the review is complete, and Security Centre shows the result.
If you change your business details after you are verified, you must complete verification again. Do not edit the legal name, address or website during a review.
If Meta rejects your submission
Meta can reject a submission when:
- the details or documents do not match each other, or Meta suspects that they are not true;
- the person who submits it is not authorised to represent the business;
- the website does not load, is not HTTPS, or links to an error page.
Open Security Centre (or the Meta product where you started verification) to see the status and the reason. You may be able to appeal the decision from there. Correct the details that do not match before you submit again.
Common problems
| Problem | Cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No Security Centre in Settings | You do not have full control of the portfolio | Ask the owner to give you full control, or to verify |
| Ineligible for verification | Meta does not need verification from this portfolio now | Nothing to do in Security Centre; wait for Meta's notification |
| Your business is not in the list | Meta has no public record that matches what you typed | Check the legal name, then choose My business isn't listed and upload a document |
| Rejected: name does not match | The name on the document differs from the legal name you typed | Type the name exactly as it is on the document, including Pvt Ltd or LLP |
| Rejected: website | The site is down, not HTTPS, or has broken links | Fix the site, then submit again |
| Utility bill not accepted | A utility bill does not prove the legal name | Add a registration, incorporation or tax document for the name |
| The verification code never arrives | The email address or phone number you chose is not one you can reach | Choose another method, or use domain verification |
